Cincinnati's new accessory boutique... On wheels

Over the last year, I have been working to create a business to Cincinnati that focuses on a few major  concepts. 1) to bring a new experience to fashion minded shoppers 2) to offer only handmade items, and 3) to give back to the community. After hours of planning and testing markets over the past year, I've come up with a business plan that I'm very excited about: A mobile boutique! That is, a boutique on wheels, offering handcrafted items for the fashionista.

The truck will be a walk in shop, that travels around the city for events, to college campuses, business complexes, and even to homes for private parties. Women will find quality items that are beautiful and unique- and how exciting to own a one of a kind item? The greatest thing about he truck is it will help local artists get their work out to the community, and provide an extra source of income for them. In addition, a portion of each sale will be donated towards local artisan projects and support the art community.

So, how can you help? Right now I am in the process of creating a video about my business and setting up a kickstarter campaign. The start up costs for a truck, vehicle wrap and interior redesign can cost anywhere between 15-20k. My kickstarter campaign is coming soon- and I need to get the word out to as many people as possible! My campaign will feature a unique line of designs for contributors, as well as other very cool contribution gifts.

I'm also looking for local artists/crafters who create unique accessories, such as infinity scarves, handpainted purses, lace headbands and wedding accessories. I would like to start carrying some new vendor items to test out at shows this spring!

Please help me in spreading the word about my dream of opening up my mobile boutique this fall!

Giving back, and you can help!

had the wonderful opportunity a few weeks ago to volunteer at a local homeless shelter. The group I volunteered with is called the "Needs-n-Dreams Foundation" and they provide hope and basic needs for children in need, especially in homeless shelters in the Cincinnati area.

A group of us helped to host a birthday party for the kids and provided snacks, games, a birthday cake and of course gifts for each child. Many time things like birthday  parties are often taken for granted, as many of us have an overwhelmingly amount of love and support in our lives.

Just last week, I participated in a fundraiser event for the "Needs-n-Dreams Foundation" and was able to hear more about the goals of this organization, and their desire to plant seeds of hope in young lives in the community. What a beautiful thing to plant seeds of hope in young lives and share with them that they can be whatever they would like to be when they grow up. That they can go to college, and become successful. Sometimes children are just missing that encouraging voice in their life.

This Christmas, I will once again have the opportunity to volunteer at one of our local shelters, and provide gifts and bring a party to the children there. Something that I truly hope brings a light to them and provides a warm memory that they will be able to look back at. Something that will bring them hope in their life. Oftentimes children remember things that are said to them and any inspiration that we can be to a little one may turn into a life change or be the motivating force behind breaking the cycle of poverty later in their lifetime.

How you can help

Through Friday, December 15th, $1 from every Jewelry by Samantha item will go directly towards helping to host a Christmas party at a local homeless shelter this Christmas. Your purchases will directly help to impact on a child's life, and support a local non profit, the "Needs-n-Dreams Foundation" to continue to give hope to children in need.

This Thanksgiving, take the time to be grateful for what you have- but also take a moment to think about those, even in your own community that may not have a home, basic needs, a stable environment or someone to love and encourage them. Always remember those that are less fortunate, and take time to give back this holiday season.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Samantha

A classy twist to memory wire bracelets

So many of you have seen the memory wire bracelets. Simple stacked bracelets with no clasp that just slide on & off.

I started thinking about these a while back- and thought "why not put a classy twist to these simple bracelets?"- so that's exactly what I did. I used stones, freshwater pearls, glass, crystal and metal beads and put them together in some fun color combinations on silver plated memory wire. These are really fun and easy to wear- and add a lot to an outfit- since they are chunky and have the appearance of a multi strand bracelet. These start at just $18 and also make great gifts!

Custom orders are always welcomed. Contact me at samanthasturk@gmail.com, or check out my etsy page by clicking on the banner in the right side of this blog. I will also be at the Montgomery Farmers Market August 3rd, September 21st, and October 12th. See you there!
